140 dogs and cats need new homes

If there were ever a dog heaven on Earth, the Country Paws shelter outside of Hempstead would be it. Tough economic times though have forced the animal shelter to shut down.

Autopsy: Woman who drowned in car was drunk, high

A toxicology report of a woman who drowned in her car as she begged for help in a 911 call shows the 20-year-old was drunk and high on ecstasy at the time of the fatal accident.
